Conversor de Unidades

Comprimento, peso e temperatura.

Recipes in cups, packages in pounds, forecasts in Fahrenheit — the metric and imperial worlds refuse to merge, so conversion remains a daily need. This converter covers the pairs people actually reach for: length, weight, distance, temperature, and volume.

Como funciona

Pick the conversion direction and enter your value. Length, weight, distance, and volume use fixed multiplicative factors; temperature is the special case, needing both scaling and an offset.

A fórmula

1 in = 2.54 cm | 1 kg = 2.20462 lb | 1 mi = 1.60934 km | °F = °C × 9/5 + 32

All factors are exact or standard definitions; the inch has been defined as exactly 2.54 cm since 1959. Volume uses the US gallon (3.785 L), not the imperial gallon (4.546 L).

Exemplo resolvido

100 cm → 100 ÷ 2.54 = 39.37 inches. And a pleasant 25 °C day is 25 × 9/5 + 32 = 77 °F.

Perguntas frequentes

Why can't temperature use a simple factor like the others?

Because the scales have different zero points: 0 °C sits at 32 °F. Conversions therefore need the offset — and only −40° reads the same on both scales.

Which gallon does this use?

The US gallon (3.785 liters). The imperial gallon used historically in the UK is about 20% larger (4.546 L) — a frequent source of fuel-economy confusion.

What quick approximations are worth memorizing?

A kilogram is about 2.2 pounds, a mile about 1.6 km, an inch about 2.5 cm, and for temperature: double the °C and add 30 gets you within a couple of °F for everyday weather.
