Age calculations look trivial but are full of traps: months have different lengths, leap years shift everything, and 'borrowing' days across month boundaries is easy to get wrong by hand.
Enter your date of birth. The calculator subtracts it from today's date component by component — days first, then months, then years — borrowing correctly across month boundaries and accounting for leap years, the same way official age determinations work.
If today's day-of-month is smaller than the birth day, one month is borrowed and converted to that month's actual number of days; if the month result goes negative, a year is borrowed as 12 months.
Someone born on 15 May 2000 is, on 19 July 2026, exactly 26 years, 2 months, and 4 days old — 9,561 days in total — with 300 days remaining until their next birthday.
In common years most jurisdictions treat 1 March as the legal birthday, though some use 28 February. The calculator counts actual elapsed calendar days either way, so the total-days figure is always exact.
There are several conventions for borrowing days across months of different lengths. Differences of a day can appear near month ends; the year count and total days should always agree.
