The Saudi Customs and VAT Calculator estimates customs duty, import VAT and additional charges from the values you enter. Customs rates vary by HS code, product description, origin and applicable agreements, so the duty rate remains editable rather than assuming one rate for all imports.
How it works
Customs duty is calculated first on the customs base value. The import-VAT base then includes the customs value, duty and entered additional fees. VAT is applied to that base, and the calculator displays the total amount due and total value after taxes.
The formula
Customs value, tariff rate, additional charges and VAT rate are editable. Identify the correct integrated customs-tariff code before relying on the calculation.
Worked example
For a customs value of SAR 50,000 and a 5% tariff, customs duty is SAR 2,500. With no additional fees, the VAT base is SAR 52,500 and VAT at 15% is SAR 7,875. Total customs duty and VAT are SAR 10,375.
Frequently asked questions
Are all goods subject to a 5% customs rate?
No. Rates vary by tariff code. Some goods may be exempt, subject to higher rates or affected by special measures. Use the official integrated tariff inquiry.
Is VAT charged on customs duty?
Import VAT is generally calculated on the goods value plus shipping, insurance, customs duty, declaration fees and other amounts included in the customs declaration.
What is the difference between invoice value and customs value?
Customs value may include the price paid plus shipping, insurance and other elements up to the point of entry, subject to customs valuation rules.
Does the calculator include excise or anti-dumping duties?
Not automatically. Add known amounts as additional fees and verify product-specific measures with ZATCA or a licensed customs broker.
Is the result a binding customs assessment?
No. The official amount depends on the declaration, accepted classification and value, origin, exemptions and rules in force at clearance.
Confirm the correct tariff code and use ZATCA's official customs and tax services before shipping or clearing imported goods.
