ज़कात

शुद्ध संपत्ति का 2.5%।

Zakat is the third pillar of Islam: an annual obligation of 2.5% on wealth that has been held for a full lunar year above a minimum threshold (nisab). This calculator handles the arithmetic — enter your total zakatable assets and the debts due from you, and it returns your net zakatable wealth and the zakat owed.

यह कैसे काम करता है

Zakatable assets typically include cash in hand and in banks, gold and silver at market value, trade inventory, and money owed to you that you expect to receive. Debts currently due from you are deducted. If the net amount stays above the nisab for a full lunar (hijri) year, 2.5% of it is due.

सूत्र

Zakat = (Assets − Debts due) × 2.5%

The nisab equals the market value of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver — check current prices, as it changes daily. Many scholars recommend the silver nisab as it benefits more recipients.

हल किया उदाहरण

With 100,000 in zakatable assets and 10,000 in due debts, the net is 90,000. If that exceeds the current nisab and has been held a full lunar year, zakat due is 90,000 × 2.5% = 2,250.

सामान्य प्रश्न

Is zakat due on my home and car?

No — personal-use items such as your residence, car, furniture, and clothing are exempt. Zakat applies to growing wealth: cash, gold, silver, trade goods, and investments.

What about salary — do I pay zakat on income?

Zakat is on accumulated wealth, not income as such. Whatever savings remain with you when your zakat year completes, above nisab, are included at 2.5%.

The lunar year vs the calendar year?

The hijri year is about 11 days shorter. If you calculate on a Gregorian annual date, many scholars advise using 2.577% instead of 2.5% to compensate.

Rules vary across schools of jurisprudence and individual situations. For rulings specific to your case, consult a qualified scholar or your local fatwa authority.
