Saudi Annual Leave Calculator

Estimate annual leave entitlement, accrued balance and the value of unused leave in Saudi Arabia.

Salary and employee-entitlement calculators

Calculate salary, net pay, GOSI deductions, annual leave, notice period, end-of-service benefit and final settlement.

The Saudi Annual Leave Calculator estimates statutory annual-leave entitlement, the number of leave days accrued during the selected part of the leave year, the remaining balance after carried and used days, and an indicative cash value of that balance. It is designed for employees covered by the Saudi Labor Law rules represented by the calculator.

How it works

Enter the monthly wage, completed years of service with the employer, the number of months accrued in the current leave year, carried leave days and leave days already used. The calculator applies 21 days per year before completing five consecutive years of service and 30 days per year from five completed years onward. It prorates the annual entitlement by the months entered, adds carried days, subtracts used days and values the remaining balance using a monthly wage divided by 30.

The formula

Annual entitlement = service < 5 years ? 21 : 30; Accrued = Annual entitlement × Months ÷ 12; Balance = max(0, Accrued + Carried − Used); Daily wage = Monthly wage ÷ 30; Balance value = Balance × Daily wage

Service years are completed continuous years with the same employer for the 21-to-30-day threshold. Months represent the portion of the current leave year being accrued and must be between 0 and 12 in this calculator. Carried days are prior unused days entered by the user. Used days are days already taken. The balance value is an estimate based on the monthly wage entered.

Worked example

An employee earning 9,000 SAR per month with three completed service years and 12 months accrued receives a statutory annual entitlement of 21 days in the calculator. With no carried or used leave, the balance is 21 days. The estimated daily wage is 300 SAR and the indicative balance value is 6,300 SAR.

Frequently asked questions

When does annual leave increase from 21 to 30 days?

Under the Saudi Labor Law rule represented here, annual leave is not less than 21 days and increases to not less than 30 days after the employee completes five consecutive years with the same employer.

Can an employee receive cash instead of taking annual leave while still employed?

The Labor Law states that the worker should take leave in the year it is due and may not waive it or take cash instead during service. A worker who leaves employment is entitled to wages for accrued leave days not taken, subject to the applicable facts and rules.

Does the calculator know my employer's carried-leave policy?

No. You enter carried days yourself. Actual carry-forward can depend on employer approval, scheduling, postponement rules, records and any employment terms that grant more than the statutory minimum.

Why is the calculator using a 30-day month?

The calculator uses monthly wage divided by 30 as its daily-value convention. Actual payroll treatment should be checked against the applicable contract, payroll records and legal rules.

The result is an estimate and does not replace the employer's approved leave record. Contractual leave may exceed the statutory minimum, and carried, postponed or consumed leave can depend on documented employer records and applicable rules.
